1. Operator and acceptance

The operator contact, governing law and jurisdiction must be configured before account creation can proceed.

Public visitors may use public search subject to the evidence, acceptable-use and source-rights provisions below.

2. What ESOS IQ provides

ESOS IQ provides source-backed ESOS account intelligence and an evidence workspace. It structures covered ESOS publications, reconciles organisation records, applies governed classifications, links compatible evidence and preserves routes to official sources. It supports research into what organisations reported, how the evidence changed and what a user should verify next.

ESOS IQ is an independent research service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Environment Agency or UK Government, and it is not legal, financial, investment, procurement, engineering, compliance-determination or energy-assessment advice.

3. Plans, subscriptions and cancellation

• Explore — Free is for one user and includes five complete records each month, with no card or subscription.
• Professional is £99 monthly or £995 annual for one named user.
• Team is £299 monthly or £2,995 annual for a governed shared workspace of up to five named users.
• The displayed subscription amount is the total charged at Checkout; no VAT is added.
• Enterprise uses a tailored proposal; scope and terms must be agreed before purchase.
• No paid consent or billing period is preselected. Checkout, recurring billing and entitlement activation occur only after an explicit selection and verified Stripe events.

Paid subscriptions renew for the selected period until cancelled. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period unless law, an applicable refund, fraud or chargeback handling requires another outcome. A downgrade restricts access without silently destroying retained governed work. Payment failure may cause retries, a disclosed grace period and then restriction. Reactivation restores access only after a valid payment state is reconciled. See the subscription and cancellation terms and refund policy.

4. Account responsibility

• Provide an email address you control and complete verification before access activates.
• Use ESOS IQ only if you are 18 or over and acting for a lawful professional, organisational, academic, policy or research purpose.
• Keep credentials confidential and report suspected unauthorised access promptly.
• Keep contact and profile information accurate enough for the requested service.
• Do not create duplicate identities to bypass a registration control, access decision, rate limit or suspension.

5. Acceptable use

You may search, review, save, compare and export available evidence for lawful research and source-informed work. You must not:

• bypass authentication, registration controls, entitlements, workspace isolation, Evidence governance, rate limits or security controls;
• scrape, probe, overload, reverse engineer or interfere with the service or another user;
• submit malware, unlawful content, secrets or unnecessary personal/confidential information;
• misrepresent ESOS IQ output as proof of implementation, procurement, budget, supplier demand, buying intent or independently verified performance;
• resell access, share credentials or reproduce a substantial part of the structured database as a competing service;
• use evidence or exports in breach of data-protection, direct-marketing, intellectual-property, discrimination or other applicable law.

6. Evidence, enrichment and reliance

Official ESOS records are participant-supplied. The Environment Agency publishes them but does not verify those records as proof of compliance. Publications can contain omissions, anomalous values, inconsistent wording and later corrections. ESOS IQ validates its structured releases and preserves provenance, but does not independently verify compliance, that reported work occurred, savings were achieved or circumstances remain current.

Reported status, dates, savings and classifications must be read with their explanations, evidence-quality indicators and source. User-selected filters organise evidence and do not prove procurement or commercial intent. Severe anomalies are excluded by default but the raw declaration and exclusion reason remain available. Check material conclusions against the linked publication and, where appropriate, directly with the relevant organisation or qualified adviser.

7. Private work, monitoring and exports

Saved searches, watched organisations, monitoring rules and personal Evidence cases are workspace tools; they do not alter the underlying published evidence. A personal Evidence case starts from a governed measure and remains subject to permission, lifecycle, custody and audit controls. Creation does not verify implementation or create an organisation-level conclusion.

You remain responsible for reviewing alerts and exports in context, protecting exported files and deciding whether a later factual change affects your work.

8. Official-source and ESOS IQ rights

Official-source material remains subject to its publisher's rights and terms. The operator owns or licenses the ESOS IQ application, interface, code, explanations, selection and structured working layer. Account access grants a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the available service for the permitted purpose; ownership is not transferred.

Reasonable research outputs may be used or shared where source context and applicable rights are respected. Do not remove provenance or present ESOS IQ enrichment as an official government publication.

9. Availability, support and product changes

Unless a separately signed Enterprise contract says otherwise, no service level is guaranteed. Source checking and validation are operating processes, not a guarantee of uninterrupted access or immediate publication. Maintenance, provider incidents, security events or circumstances outside reasonable control can affect availability.

Product features, coverage and limits may change to protect evidence quality, users or service sustainability. Material access, pricing or term changes will be dated and presented clearly; an existing paid subscription will be handled under applicable notice and consumer/business law.

10. Suspension, downgrade and closure

Access may be restricted where reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate misuse, comply with law or preserve service integrity. Automated signals can place an account in a safe restriction state, but material suspensions have a human-review and appeal route.

Explore — Free is the standard non-paid access after a permitted downgrade. Account closure removes eligible login and personal workspace data through the governed process, subject to shared-work custody and the retention limits explained in the Privacy Notice. Underlying official public records are not personal account data.

11. Responsibility, governing terms and contact

Nothing excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded. You remain responsible for professional judgement, outreach and marketing compliance, account security, exported information and decisions made from the evidence.
